Families like to do things together. We get that! The dentists at Bearable Dentistry love it when the whole family comes in for dental care. We can accommodate your child’s school schedule AND your work schedule. Our schedulers keep track of the Moscow, Pullman and other area school schedules. With some planning, parents can have their teeth cleaned while the kids are being seen by the dentist in another room. The dentist and his assistants will be sure to include parents in decision making and follow-up with advice and recommendations.

Parents often ask “how can I teach my child proper dental care?” Imitation is the best way to teach your child how to brush and floss. Children as young as 2 or 3 can learn to brush by watching you. Our dentists suggest that you follow-up with a thorough brushing for the most effective cleaning. Get your kids in to the habit of brushing at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. Some children will respond better to toothpaste made especially for kids. We suggest that parents also floss their toddler’s teeth. By the age of 10, children should be able to floss by themselves. Most importantly, praise your child for clean teeth, a nice smile and good dental health habits.

Out of all age groups, children are the most cavity-prone. It is critical that they brush twice a day and floss daily to remove plaque, the colorless film of bacteria that forms on teeth and leads to decay and gum disease. Brushing well and a balanced diet will promote good oral health. Fluoride makes teeth stronger and more resistant to decay. Scientific research indicates that children who drink fluoridated water from birth can reduce cavities substantially.

Remember, regular dental checkups are key to health oral development. Call the Bearable Dentistry office to set up an appointment for your family. We can help you make good oral health a family tradition!
